What is Community Solar?

Community Solar is a state-sponsored initiative that lets you enjoy the benefits of solar energy without needing to install panels on your home. Instead, you subscribe to a share of power from a local solar farm. The energy it produces flows into the existing power grid, and you receive solar credit discounts on your utility bill - lowering your monthly costs. It’s clean, renewable, and hassle-free. â€‹â€‹â€‹

Who is Eligible?

Community Solar is available for residential customers in select states. Residents within states with active Community Solar programs, regardless of whether an they rent or own, can enroll.

What Parties are Involved?

Enerbridge: We're here to help interested employers, association groups and individuals access local residential community solar programs. We promote community solar by providing education and connecting people with Program Managers.

Subscriber: Individuals who are interested in residential Community Solar and complete the required enrollment process become Subscribers. Community Solar is a subscription model, in which the subscriber purchases solar credits, but the savings of said solar credits is greater than the cost resulting in guaranteed savings throughout the course of a year.

Program Manager: These companies work directly with the Solar Farm Developers and match individuals with a local solar farm. They use their network and proprietary software to identify available capacity, manage the subscription process for Subscribers, track energy production and allocate solar credits back to Subscribers.

Solar Farm Developer: The Developer builds and maintains a solar farm ensuring that all energy produced is delivered to the grid.

Electric Utility: The Utility receives the energy produced by the solar farm, offsetting the need for traditional electricity production.

How Does Enrollment Work?

Community Solar process

Step 1. Interested utility customer enrolls in program

Enrollment is easy. We provide a secure link and you provide us with the required information including your name, address, and a copy of your utility bill. Once received, we confirm your eligibility in the solar program. If approved, we'll notify you and automatically begin next steps!

Step 2. Enerbridge works with trusted partners to match customers with a local solar farm

Our process is seamless. We work with trusted partners to find a solar farm local to your address that has available capacity and assign a share of the Community Solar credits it generates based on your typical usage. While this is a subscription model that requires you to pay for the Community Solar credits received, it is always at a guaranteed discount, leading to net savings.

Step 3. Selected Solar Farm starts producing clean energy that is sent to the electricity grid

The Solar farm begins generating solar energy that is delivered directly to the power grid and increases the renewable energy available to your community.

Step 4. Customer receives solar credits that are applied to electric bill each month

Community Solar credits are applied to your bill each month based on your share of the solar energy produced, reducing what you pay your utility. Depending on your state of residence, the payment of the solar credits is either managed within your utility bill or separately and directly with the solar farm. Either way, the payment for Solar Credits is guaranteed to be less than the credit amount received, resulting in net savings.

Step 5. Customer realizes monthly savings while also creating a greener future

Each month you help generate clean energy for your community, which offsets the usage of traditional electricity and benefits us all, while also lowering your electric bill - a greener and more affordable future!
